You can't see facial expressions or body language online, so it's sometimes hard to tell if someone is happy, mad, serious, or joking. Smileys are little pictures that show how the writer feels. Don't undertand what a smiley means? Maybe you just need a change of perspective. Turn your head ninety degrees to the left.
